The Boston Red Sox placed utilityman Nick Sogard on the 10-day injured list on June 3 due to right side soreness. Sogard had recently contributed to the team's best offensive stretch, hitting safely in eight of nine games after making his season debut on May 17. Anthony Seigler has been promoted from Triple-A Worcester to replace Sogard.
