The Boston Red Sox made three selections during the first day of the MLB Draft. They chose Jake Schaffner, a shortstop from North Carolina, with the 20th overall pick. Schaffner enjoyed a standout season, hitting.356 with 50 RBIs and 26 stolen bases. The Red Sox also selected North Carolina outfielder Owen Hull at the 67th spot and Jace Mataczynski, a high school shortstop from Wisconsin, at pick 96.
