The Boston Red Sox have traded infielder Marcelo Mayer to the San Francisco Giants in exchange for left-handed reliever Erik Miller. Mayer, 23, a former top prospect, struggled in the majors with a.223/.278/.346 slash line and is currently on the injured list with a forearm issue. Miller, 28, has a solid track record as a reliever and is under team control through 2029.

- •Miller is under team control through the 2029 season.
