The Boston Red Sox secured a victory in a 13-inning game against the Chicago White Sox on August 4, 2026. However, the win came at a cost, as the bullpen was heavily utilized, with all eight pitchers throwing a combined 166 pitches. With no off day until August 20, the team's pitching management is under strain, especially for Payton Tolle and Jake Bennett, who are nearing career high inning counts. The Red Sox may consider calling up Blake Wehunt for an upcoming start to relieve the pitching workload.
