Red Wings prepare for NHL draft without a first-round pick

The Detroit Red Wings will enter Friday's NHL Entry Draft without a first-round pick for the first time since 2012. This follows a trade in which they dealt their 15th overall pick to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for defenseman Justin Faulk at the NHL trade deadline. General Manager Steve Yzerman has not previously experienced a first round without a selection since taking over in 2019.
