Red Wings prospects prepare for upcoming NHL rookie tournament in Detroit

The Detroit Red Wings will join prospect squads from the Pittsburgh Penguins, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Dallas Stars for an NHL rookie tournament beginning September 13 at Little Caesars Arena. Several prospects face high expectations as the organization currently lacks a permanent director of hockey operations. Center Nate Danielson is under observation to determine if his offensive production warrants an NHL roster spot. Forward Theo Rochette and winger Carter Bear are also seeking to establish roles within the organization, while defenseman Anton Johansson and goaltender Augustine look to build on successful seasons elsewhere. Management intends to use this tournament as an evaluation phase for younger players despite the uncertainty surrounding the front office leadership.
