General Manager Steve Yzerman explained that due to a shortened training camp from September 17-20 and a reduced preseason schedule, the team will convene at Little Caesars Arena instead. The rookie tournament will also move to Detroit, featuring rookie teams from the Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, and Pittsburgh Penguins from September 12-15.
