Reds pitcher Hunter Greene goes 6 innings before trade deadline

Hunter Greene pitched six innings, allowing four runs, in a game where the Cincinnati Reds rallied to defeat the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-7 on July 31, 2026. This performance precedes his potential move before the upcoming MLB trade deadline on August 3. Greene’s name has surfaced frequently in trade discussions, with teams like the Los Angeles Dodgers reportedly interested in acquiring him. His start against Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes was overshadowed by trade speculation, as multiple teams had scouts in attendance evaluating Reds players. Greene is part of a group of Reds players perceived as trade chips as the team looks to retool for next season.
