Redwood names Nash McElree as starting quarterback

Redwood coach Curtis Allen and his staff have named Nash McElree the team's full-time starting quarterback. McElree, who previously competed at Aledo High School in Texas, won the job following a two-way battle with senior Michael Garcia that spanned fall camp and three games. Offensive coordinator Kenny Jackson cited McElree’s dual-threat ability, composure, and field leadership as primary factors in the decision. The coaching staff emphasized the need to provide the offense with clarity and chemistry ahead of the team's upcoming league schedule. Redwood, which holds a 3-0 record, faces Lemoore on Sept. 11. The team chose to finalize the position now to avoid continued rotation of reps at the quarterback spot.
