Regional distance runners and triathletes record wins across weekend competitions

Distance runners and triathletes from Iowa posted several top performances across events in late August. Sanele Masondo won the 49th annual Crim Festival of Races 5-mile event in Michigan with a time of 23:27 on August 22. At the ScoCo50 in Scott County Park, Dan Froeschle established a course record of 3:15:04 in the 50-kilometer race, while Melissa Taylor and Gabby Skopec set new course records in their respective divisions. Tyson Wieland and Jess Smith claimed victories at the Tri Clear Lake event, which was modified to a sprint distance due to weather. Meanwhile, Adva Cohen and Adam Fogg competed at international track meets in Europe, with Cohen recording a 6:16.39 in the 2,000-meter steeplechase at Berlin's ISTAF 2026 meet.
