Regional newspapers open weekly athlete voting for local high school performers

Media outlets in Virginia, New York, and Michigan have launched weekly athlete of the week polls covering high school performances from early September. The News Leader in Virginia is accepting votes through Friday for eight nominees, including football standouts Luc Geffrard and Jackson Fitzgerald. In New York, the Guthrie Athlete of the Week poll remains open through Thursday, featuring football players Brysen Fry, Jace Schiller, and John Wilson among the candidates. The Battle Creek Enquirer has also opened voting through Wednesday for nominees including Lakeview tennis player Nestor Cardinaux and Harper Creek linebacker Logan Converse. These polls highlight individual achievements ranging from single-game touchdowns and defensive interceptions to tournament championships and swimming state qualification marks.
