Rei Tsuruya seeks ranked UFC flyweight opponent following victory in Shanghai

Rei Tsuruya extended his recent winning streak at UFC Fight Night 286 in Shanghai by submitting Kevin Borjas via rear-naked choke. The bout ended in the first round at the 4:14 mark, moving Tsuruya to a 3-1 record within the promotion. Tsuruya remains undefeated against all opponents except for current flyweight champion Joshua Van, whose own trajectory has boosted the profile of Tsuruya’s professional record. Following consecutive first-round finishes, the 24-year-old fighter is now targeting a bout against a top-15 ranked opponent. Tsuruya indicated he hopes to secure a match in December as he continues to climb the divisional ladder. He maintains that three additional victories should position him for a future title opportunity.
