Frank Vernon Ramsey Jr. was born on July 13, 1931, in Corydon, Kentucky. He played basketball for the University of Kentucky and helped lead the Wildcats to an NCAA title in 1951. After being drafted by the Boston Celtics in 1953, Ramsey won his first NBA championship in 1957 and contributed to six more titles during his career. He was recognized as a Hall of Famer and later coached the Kentucky Colonels in the ABA.
