Rene Meulensteen joins Stockport County as director of football methodology

Rene Meulensteen has been appointed as Stockport County's first-ever director of football methodology. The former Manchester United assistant, who assisted Sir Alex Ferguson from 2001 to 2013, will collaborate closely with the club's coaching staff and his son Joppe, who is already part of the coaching team. This role aims to enhance football programs across the academy and senior team, following a successful prior season where Stockport finished third but lost at the play-off final. Sporting director Damien Allen highlighted Meulensteen's expertise in player development as a key reason for the appointment.
