On June 27, 2026, during a Lucha Libre AAA event, Rey Mysterio revealed plans for a talent exchange with NXT. This comes after recent interactions saw NXT talent like Lola Vice performing in AAA. Mysterio confirmed that Hijo del Vikingo will defend the AAA Latin American Championship in NXT, with more details on future collaborations expected. He also hinted at a new signing from WWE and the return of Lady Shani for an upcoming match. This move represents a shift in talent negotiations as NXT's recent absence from TNA coincides with AAA's growing connection to WWE.

- 12:30 PMCageside Seats — It sounds like Rey Mysterio & AAA stole TNA’s deal with NXT
"TNA and NXT have a nice deal exchanging talent back and forth to increase exposure and build experience. For example, Trick Williams and Jacy Jayne holding TNA titles helped prepare them for bigger things in WWE. However, that well seems to have dried up in recent months. Once Arianna Grace finished the storyline with her father Santino Marella, NXT has not been present in TNA. Now, it sounds like Rey Mysterio and AAA might have stolen TNA’s deal with NXT. I say stolen as a joke. With AAA being owned by WWE, talent coming in from NXT is business as usual for the worldwide leader in sports entertainment. The multi-year deal between TNA and NXT should still exist. The real reason to write this post is AAA general manager Rey Mysterio putting his stamp on a talent exchange of his own with NXT. On Saturday night’s episode of Lucha Libre AAA (June 27, 2026), Rey dished the news to the press in the media scrum. Rey spoke to NXT general manager Robert Stone to set up Hijo del Vikingo defending the AAA Latin American Championship in NXT. This comes after Lola Vice defended the NXT Women’s Championship for the first time in AAA. Rey also teased working on more appearances for talent between AAA and NXT. Details to come. ¿Qué opina Rey Mysterio de Los Perros del Mal? Y más sorpresas #AAAenFOX pic.twitter.com/2nsW0GGgB8 — Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (@luchalibreaaa) June 28, 2026 Rey also addressed a few more items buzzing on the newswire. He was as surprised as everyone else at the debut of the new Perros del Mal. That group wanted AAA’s attention, and now they have it. The deal is almost done to bring in a former WWE world champion. Rey invited that man to appear next week for the first time in AAA. In addition for next week, Lady Shani returns to the ring to wrestle Flammer in a non-title bout, and Fiscal fights Abismo Negro in that heated feud. Which “dream matches” would you like to see in the crossover between AAA and NXT? Share your thoughts on the rest of the news delivered by Rey Mysterio.
