Rick Barnes welcomes Jalen Washington to Tennessee basketball program

Tennessee basketball coach Rick Barnes announced the addition of Jalen Washington, a transfer from Vanderbilt, on August 5. Washington, a center, received a fifth year of eligibility due to a recent Tennessee court ruling. He previously played three seasons at North Carolina and had a standout year with Vanderbilt in 2025-26, averaging 8.9 points and 5.6 rebounds. Barnes praised Washington's work ethic and character, highlighting his ability to enhance team dynamics and contribute to a championship pursuit. This addition comes as the team aims to bolster its lineup with experienced players before the upcoming season.
