Ricky Saints confronts Rey Fenix over AAA title ambitions

In a WWE exclusive, Saints interrupted AAA Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix during an interview. Fenix was discussing his participation in Raw’s upcoming tournament to determine Roman Reigns’ next challenger for the World Heavyweight Championship. Saints then showed up with a not-so-veiled threat. “What you actually should be focused on is the fact that you are a AAA Cruiserweight Champion,” Saints warned. “And if you don’t keep your focus on that, someone that is more absolute is going to come by and take that from you — and his name is Ricky Saints.” EXCLUSIVE: @luchalibreaaa Cruiserweight Champion @ReyFenixMx gets confronted by @starkmanjones. pic.twitter.com/qSrp7P769V — WWE (@WWE) August 8, 2026 At 204 pounds, Saints is well within the 231-pound weight limit to compete for the title, but Fenix hinted that Saints isn’t in his league. “This title is for a real wrestler,” Fenix replied after daring Saints to try him. Since winning the Cruiserweight Championship in May, Fenix has defended the title more often on SmackDown than in AAA. With four successful defenses on WWE’s blue brand, a match against Saints on SmackDown is a possibility. Saints last wrestled on SmackDown in June, defeating Carmelo Hayes. After failing to win the United States title from Trick Williams at Night of Champions, Saints has appeared regularly on Main Event, where he’s 2-1 in the past month. Last Thursday, commentary suggested Saints could be setting his sights on October’s Money in the Bank in his hometown of New Orleans. Either winning the Cruiserweight title or putting on an impressive performance before then could help Saints earn a spot on the card.
