Rico Abreu wins the Skagit Nationals at Skagit Speedway

Rico Abreu secured his third consecutive Skagit Nationals title on Saturday at Skagit Speedway. The Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing event saw Abreu overcome a challenge from Tanner Thorson to collect the $126,000 prize. Thorson led 19 of the 40 laps, but Abreu took the lead for the final time on lap 26 and held off a late surge from Aaron Reutzel. The race was paused for 30 minutes following a lap 31 crash involving Trey Starks, who flipped into the turn-three fence but emerged uninjured. Reutzel finished second, followed by Thorson in third, Justin Sanders in fourth, and Giovanni Scelzi in fifth. With this victory, Abreu extended his championship series lead to 46 points.
