River Plate has begun formal negotiations with Real Madrid for the loan of Franco Mastantuono for the upcoming season. The 18-year-old midfielder seeks more playing time after a limited role in his debut season in Spain. He played 1,484 minutes over 35 appearances, primarily as a substitute. Real Madrid, however, prefers to loan him to a European club, believing this will better aid his development.
