On July 2, 2026, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. appeared on NewsNation alongside Paul “Triple H” Levesque to discuss the Presidential Fitness Test. Kennedy used WWE as an example, stating that failure is part of life and equating it to the resilience of professional wrestlers. His comments raised eyebrows among viewers, who questioned whether he understood the scripted nature of wrestling. Journalist Aaron Rupar highlighted the confusion by suggesting that Kennedy might think wrestling is real. Triple H did not correct Kennedy during the interview but emphasized the importance of supporting all children in fitness activities, rather than focusing solely on the most athletically gifted.

"Robert Kennedy Jr. and Triple H | NewsNation A recent appearance by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Paul “Triple H” Levesque on television left many viewers with some questions, chief among them being is if the country’s health secretary doesn’t understand the basic concept of professional wrestling being scripted. Kennedy, the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, appeared on NewsNation with Triple H to discuss the return of the Presidential Fitness Test. While speaking about the test, which President Donald Trump recently reinstated, RFK Jr. used the WWE as an example during an analogy. “I think it was a huge mistake [the test]. I mean look at our kids, we literally have the sickest population in the world,” Kennedy said during the interview. NewsNation anchor Anna Kooiman remarked the test was previously criticized for potentially hurting the self esteem of children who aren’t athletically inclined. “What can we do to make sure that this Presidential Fitness Test, this version, makes everybody feel like it’s empowering them to get strong and get ahead?” Kooiman asked. “Failure is a part of life. The great thing about WWE, that’s so inspiring, is that all of these guys have failed. Every one of them has lost fights, ” Kennedy responded. “The trick is how do you persuade yourself to stand back up and fight again?” RFK Jr. wasn’t finished with this line of thinking. “You know, that’s the beauty of WWE. You lose sometimes, but you win sometimes. But if you keep sticking at it, you’re ultimately going to come out on top,” RFK Jr. said. These comments left many people wondering if RFK doesn’t realized that a good deal of pro wrestling is not only scripted, but that the endings of matches are predetermined. Or, as journalist Aaron Rupar put it on X (Twitter): “Triple H did a NewsNation interview with [checks notes] RFK Jr. — and RFK Jr. apparently thinks wrestling is real.” Triple H did a NewsNation interview with [checks notes] RFK Jr. — and RFK Jr. apparently thinks wrestling is real "The great thing about WWE that's so inspiring is all of these guys have failed. One X user wrote: “So RFK Jr. thinks Pro Wrestling, something that has been known to be a scripted art form is real but he also thinks Vaccines and modern medicine that are backed by decades of research are fake, the american government is such a joke.” At least one person on X offered a quasi-defense of Kennedy’s comments, writing: “What’s more likely IMO is that RFK thinks wrestling fans still believe wrestling to be real, and he thinks he’s keeping kayfabe on WWE’s behalf. Still idiotic, but a different kind of idiocy. Possibly more revealing.” Another interesting facet of this conversation that people have pointed out is that if Kennedy doesn’t know that wrestling is indeed scripted, then he almost certainly wouldn’t know one of the most important aspects of Levesque’s role as Chief Content Officer at WWE. Levesque, who was named by Trump to serve as vice chair of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition, is the person at WWE who largely oversees or at least signs off on the finishes of many of the company’s matches. For his part, Triple H didn’t make any effort to correct Kennedy about the nature of his business. However, he did address some concerns regarding the Presidential Fitness Test. “We’re rewarding effort, not just the upper end of success,” Levesque said. “It’s incredibly important for us to teach kids to support the kid that can’t do it…you don’t bully them, you don’t make fun of them.” What do you make of RFK Jr.’s comments on wrestling, Cagesiders?
