Rockies promote Vimael Machín and outright Tyler Freeman to Triple-A

The Colorado Rockies selected the contract of infielder Vimael Machín from Triple-A Albuquerque on September 5, 2026. In a corresponding roster adjustment, the club outrighted Tyler Freeman to the same Triple-A affiliate after he cleared waivers. The transaction coincides with the Rockies placing Willi Castro on the 10-day injured list due to plantar fasciitis and left heel inflammation. Machín joins the major league roster following a stint in the minors where he recorded 12 home runs and 22 triples. These moves come one day after the team claimed left-handed pitcher Hayden Harris off waivers from the Atlanta Braves. The organization currently maintains a full 40-man roster as it looks to evaluate younger position players for the remainder of the season.
