Notts County defender Rod McDonald has committed to a new one-year contract with the club following their promotion to League One. The 34-year-old made 26 appearances last season and captained the team in the League Two play-off final against Salford City, where he also provided an assist. McDonald joined the Magpies from Harrogate Town in the summer of 2024 and marked his 50th appearance in the play-off victory. His future was secured as he was offered a contract extension, while teammate Lewis Macari is still considering his options.
