Roger Martinez leaves Barça Atlètic to join Qatari club Al-Markhiya

Summary

Roger Martinez is set to depart Barcelona after a single season with the club's reserve side, Barça Atlètic. The 22-year-old midfielder is finalizing a move to the Qatari club Al-Markhiya following an injury-plagued campaign. Martinez returned to Barcelona in the summer of 2025 as a free agent but struggled to find consistency after tearing the external meniscus in his right knee in February. Before his injury, he recorded two assists in 14 appearances for the team. While Barcelona recognized his potential and dedication during his recovery, both parties have decided to move in a different direction. The transfer to Al-Markhiya is expected to be completed shortly with an official announcement pending.
