Roma reduces player wage bill by 14 percent for the 26/27 season

Roma has lowered its gross player wage bill to 92.7 million euros for the 26/27 season. This move represents a 14 percent reduction from the 107.5 million euros spent on salaries at the start of the previous year. Tony D’Amico stated the club initiated these cuts to align with sustainability requests from UEFA. While the club awaits the final outcome of sanctions regarding its previous settlement agreement, the wage reduction moves Roma from fourth to fifth in the Serie A salary rankings. This decline contrasts with the broader trend across the league, where aggregate spending among all twenty clubs increased to approximately 1.209 billion euros this year. Roma currently sits behind Inter, Juventus, Napoli, and Milan in the updated gross salary standings.
