Despite the home run, Anthony struck out three times and lined out in his final plate appearance, which ended the game with the tying run at the plate. The outfielder has struggled recently, recording three hits and 15 strikeouts over his past seven games. Anthony stated he intends to return to a leadoff mentality that focuses on putting the ball in play rather than attempting to do too much at the plate. Interim manager Chad Tracy noted that while strikeouts are part of Anthony’s profile, his ability to draw walks and hit the ball hard remain significant components of his game. The team is scheduled for an off day Thursday following a stretch of 14 games in 13 days.
