Rome Red Cats join American Arena League for April 2027 start

The Rome Red Cats were announced as a new professional arena football team based in Rome, Georgia. The team will compete in the American Arena League, with play scheduled to begin in April 2027 at the Forum River Center. Ownership includes Kacee Smith, Richard Maslia, and head coach James Moreland, who collectively bring experience from the Columbus Lions and extensive arena football coaching tenures. Plans for the team's inaugural season include hosting four to six home games, with ticket prices projected between $10 and $20. Venue upgrades at the Forum River Center are expected to include improved video boards to support the team’s plans to livestream games. Practice sessions for the players will be held at locations between Rome and Atlanta.
