Roosters announce eight player departures, Leniu to join Eels

The Sydney Roosters confirmed eight player departures at their end of season awards night. Spencer Leniu, who joined the Roosters in 2024, will not return and is reportedly set to sign a four-year deal with the Parramatta Eels. Other notable departures include Daly Cherry-Evans, who will move to Hull FC in the Super League, and Angus Crichton, who is headed to Rugby Australia and the NSW Waratahs. Veteran winger Daniel Tupou announced his retirement after 15 seasons and 198 tries with the Roosters. Several other players, including Mark Nawaqanitawase and Connor Watson, are also leaving the club for opportunities elsewhere or in rugby union.
