Rory McIlroy may need to play 3M Open to retain PGA Tour membership

GolfRory McIlroy is not in the field for the Travelers Championship and played only his ninth event this season at the U.S. Open. He may fall short of the 15-event minimum required for PGA Tour membership if he only enters the Scottish Open, The Open, and two playoff events. To maintain his membership and benefits, McIlroy could consider playing in the 3M Open, among other options. The tournament takes place in July, and he has never previously competed at TPC Twin Cities.
