Royals defeat Marlins 7-3 to avoid series sweep at Kauffman Stadium

The Kansas City Royals beat the Miami Marlins 7-3 on Thursday at Kauffman Stadium, ending Miami’s attempt at a series sweep. Carter Jensen led the Royals with three hits and three RBIs, including a go-ahead home run in the fifth inning. Marlins hitters Heriberto Hernandez and Agustin Ramirez each provided solo home runs, but Miami fell behind after starter Sandy Alcantara allowed four earned runs over six innings. Michael Wacha earned the win for Kansas City, pitching six innings while the Royals bullpen held the Marlins scoreless for the remainder of the game. The Marlins fall to a 71-70 record following the loss. Miami returns to LoanDepot Park on Friday to begin a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs.
