Royals promote Josh Rojas, place Stephen Kolek on family leave

The Kansas City Royals have called up utility player Josh Rojas from Triple-A Omaha on June 4, 2026. Rojas, who boasts significant MLB experience, replaces pitcher Stephen Kolek, who is on family emergency leave. To create room on the 40-man roster, the Royals have placed Jonathan India on the 60-day Injured List due to shoulder surgery. Rojas is known for his versatility, having played nearly every position except center field and catcher. He performed well at the Triple-A level this season, hitting six home runs in 48 games.
