The Kansas City Royals have signed veteran closer Craig Kimbrel, who has 440 career saves. This move follows Kimbrel's recent designation for assignment by the Tampa Bay Rays and his release by the New York Mets earlier in the year. The Royals, struggling with injuries among their pitchers, hope Kimbrel can provide a reliable arm in their bullpen. Despite having a 4.81 ERA this season, Kimbrel's experience as a nine-time All-Star could be beneficial for the struggling team as they attempt to stabilize their pitching staff.

- •He was Rookie of the Year in 2011.
- •Kimbrel's ERA stands at 4.81 this season.
- •The Royals have struggled to find effective pitchers.
