The Kansas City Royals announced plans for a new $1.9 billion stadium to be located south of downtown Kansas City. Renderings revealed by the team show an inside view and the entrance plaza. The project, which also includes infrastructure work, aims to break ground in May 2027 with a target opening date in March 2030. This move follows the Kansas City Chiefs' decision to depart Truman Sports Complex for a new facility in Kansas. The Royals are expected to end their lease at Kauffman Stadium a year early to facilitate the new stadium's construction.
