Rudy Martin Jr. reaches major leagues after twelve years in minor leagues

The Toronto Blue Jays selected the contract of outfielder Rudy Martin Jr. on Friday after the player spent twelve seasons in the minor leagues. Martin, 30, admitted he considered retirement before receiving the promotion to the major league roster. The team designated Jesús Sánchez for assignment to create a spot for the newcomer. Martin previously played within the Kansas City Royals system after being drafted in 2014 and joined the Toronto Blue Jays organization in July. His recent performance with Triple-A Buffalo included a.253 batting average with three home runs and 12 stolen bases. Toronto management identified Martin as a potential source of speed and energy for the roster.
