Runner Ray Matthews plans to compete in Bigfoot 200 ultra-marathon

Ray Matthews, an 85-year-old runner from Rotherham, is preparing to participate in the Bigfoot 200 ultra-marathon next August. The race covers 200 miles through the Cascade Mountains in Washington State. Matthews previously gained recognition for completing the equivalent of 75 marathons in 75 days to mark his 75th birthday. Beyond his athletic pursuits, the runner has frequently used his challenges to raise money for Age UK Rotherham and the Newman School. Recently, Matthews traveled to Bangkok for a television commercial after an insurance company selected him for his fitness and determination. He now intends to transition into intensive training to meet the physical requirements of the upcoming ultra-marathon.
