Alex Rigby from Bootle, Merseyside, was awarded the British Empire Medal for his ultra-marathon fundraising efforts. Rigby ran 56 miles to every Merseyrail station, raising over £80,000 for the Liverpool charity Centre 56. Initially mistaking the honour letter for a jury call-up, he expressed gratitude for the recognition of his work.
