Russia's ban from international hockey will remain in effect until May 2027, as decided by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). The decision is based on ongoing safety, security, and sporting integrity concerns following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Belarus, which was implicated in the conflict, will also not participate in the 2027 men's championships. The IIHF council will review Russia's status for the November 2027 IIHF Women's World Championship this coming November, considering the situation at that time.
