Busch, who died on May 21 from pneumonia and sepsis complications, left behind his wife and two children. During a pre-race event at Charlotte, NASCAR held a moment of silence for him, and teams marked their respect with decals. Blaney secured the Busch Light Pole for the race, posting a qualifying lap time of 23.474 seconds.
