Ryan Garcia and Conor Benn fight for the WBC welterweight belt and Jai Opetaia takes on WBC champ Noel Mikaelyan this week in boxing! | Getty Images for Fanatics Friday, September 11th ProBoxTV, 5:30 pm ET Giovani Santillan vs Abass Baraou From Oceanside, California. Santillan was a reliable guest star on Emanuel Navarrette cards for years, and last fought in support of Baraou’s split decision loss to Xander Zayas back in January. His only pro loss came against Brian Norman in Santillan’s only attempt at a world title (so far). Baraou previously held the WBA super welterweight title before losing it to Zayas. He’s not a big name, but he’s dangerous and quality entertainment, as seen in his biggest wins over Sam Eggington and Yoenis Tellez. Solid undercard as well, with Dominic Valle, Hebert Conceicao Sousa, Mercito Gesta, and Luis Alberto Lopez all facing respectable opposition. Saturday, September 12th DAZN, 2:00 pm ET Misfits Boxing From Newcastle, England. The latest round of pure Misfits foolishness, no quasi-pro boxing features Jordan McCann vs Charlie “Big Stacks” Cox. McCann is a rapper and frequent flier with the UK’s criminal justice system, starting his carceral journey at 13 for attempted robbery. His first prominent song featured lyrics that violated his probation. Based on 90 seconds of listening, I have no objection to it getting him thrown in jail. McCann lost a decision to Ibiza Final Boss back in June, a fight where McCann tried to take a Mike Tyson nibble on Ibiza’s ear, and returns here still in search of his first clown show boxing victory. “Big Stacks” also fought on that June show, losing by 4th round TKO to “Armz Korleone” in a fight where neither fighter was allowed to hit the other in the head. That dumbass rule was due to a pre-fight altercation between McCann and Stacks, where McCann punched Stacks and split his lip. So, obviously it’s super personal. Can Big Stacks win a fight if he’s allowed to take and throw punches to the face? Can McCann win a fight at all? You’ll have to watch to find out, because there will be no live coverage or recap here. TrillerTV, 2:00 pm ET Focussed Boxing: Serious Business From Preston, England. Main event is Robert Toman vs Mohammed Dilshad for a vacant lesser IBO title. Sweet fight poster here, with “The Terminator” Toman presented with exposed Terminator (or, Kano from Mortal Kombat) metal skull. Undercard features a pair of future BoxingJim spotlight heroes in heavyweight Ryan “The Problem” Labourn (0-45-2) and super lightweight Michael “Mad Man” Mooney (10-132-3, 3 KO). This one shows as free on Triller, so no PPV or subscription needed as far as I can tell. Ryan Garcia vs Conor Benn (Paramount+, 8:00 pm ET) BLH will have live results and updates From Las Vegas, Nevada, for Garcia’s WBC welterweight belt. Garcia picked up that belt his last time out in February, winning a wide decision over Mario Barrios. As for Benn, a failed drug test ovum drove him away from serious fights for years of his prime until a Fight of the Year level banger with Chris Eubank erased a lot of bad memories. A victory in the rematch later in 2025 further solidified Benn as a viable draw and real presence in the sport again. Benn was last seen pushing the last vestiges of Regis Prograis around Tottenham HotSpur Stadium back in April, and now attempts to fight at welterweight for what would be the first time since April of 2022. ON THE UNDERCARD: Noel Mikaelyan holds the WBC cruiserweight title, and faces Jai Opetaia in the chief support. I wouldn’t say with 100% certainty that the belt will be on the line here, though, given the IBF title fiasco when Opetaia made his Zuffa debut. Also, Mark Magsayo vs Andres Cortes and Jose Ramirez vs Alexis Rocha. Prelims start at 4pm ET on Paramount+.
