Ryan Gauld records 50th goal in Whitecaps victory over the Galaxy

Vancouver Whitecaps defeated the LA Galaxy 3-0 on Wednesday night at home. Brian White opened the scoring in the eighth minute with a header following a flick from Thomas Müller. Ryan Gauld secured his 50th career goal with the club in the 57th minute, becoming the first player in Vancouver's MLS era to record 50 goals and 50 assists. Bruno Caicedo added a third goal for the Whitecaps from a penalty kick in the 89th minute. Yohei Takaoka recorded five saves to earn his 11th clean sheet of the season. Vancouver continues to lead the Western Conference, holding a three-point advantage over Houston. The LA Galaxy, which holds a 2-3-1 record over its last six matches, prepares to host Seattle this Saturday. The Whitecaps remain in Vancouver to host Austin on Sunday.
