Ryan Lasko updates recovery after spinal surgery from on-field collision

Ryan Lasko, an outfielder for the Athletics' Double-A affiliate Midland RockHounds, provided an update on his recovery nearly a month after a serious collision with teammate Devin Taylor. Lasko, 24, fractured his C6-C7 vertebrae during a game on June 30 and underwent surgery. He reported regaining sensation in parts of his legs and improvement in hand functionality through an Instagram post. Following the collision, Lasko had initially lost feeling in his lower body due to swelling around his spine. Athletics manager Mark Kotsay noted the potential for Lasko to regain sensation, pending recovery progress.
