Sacramento Kings declined a trade involving Zach LaVine and Trae Young

The Sacramento Kings reportedly turned down a trade offer last season that would have sent Zach LaVine to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Trae Young. Sacramento general manager Scott Perry has sought to move LaVine’s contract for some time, as the guard is owed $48 million for the 2026-27 season. Sacramento officials reportedly rejected the deal because they were unwilling to commit to the long-term contract extension Trae Young would have required upon arrival. Unlike the Kings, the Washington Wizards later acquired Young and subsequently signed the four-time All-Star to a four-year, $212 million extension. LaVine remains on the Sacramento roster, with his contract approaching an expiration that could make him a trade candidate before the upcoming deadline.
