Sacramento Kings sign Ben Simmons to one-year contract for upcoming season

Ben Simmons has agreed to a one-year, $3.5 million contract with the Sacramento Kings, marking his return to the NBA after sitting out the 2025-26 season. The three-time All-Star held workouts in Florida earlier this summer that drew interest from several teams. While the Kings ultimately moved forward with the veteran guard/forward, the New York Knicks and Golden State Warriors also considered adding him to their rosters. Prior to the signing, the Kings explored other veteran options, including Victor Oladipo and the retired Russell Westbrook. Simmons spent his most recent season in the league playing for the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers during 2024-25. He spent the summer participating in a player-led national team mini-camp in Melbourne to prepare for his return.
