Saguaro football cancels another game due to a depleted roster

Saguaro has canceled its upcoming September 10 game against ALA Queen Creek because of a depleted roster and injuries. This marks the second consecutive week the team has canceled a contest, following a previous cancellation against Scottsdale Chaparral. Coach Butch Goncharoff confirmed the program is not canceling its entire season despite the current difficulties. The 6A school faces a shortage of personnel, maintaining a roster of approximately 25 players. The team previously canceled its freshman and junior varsity seasons due to low enrollment. Saguaro began the season with a 62-0 loss to Scottsdale Desert Mountain and currently faces a schedule featuring seven remaining 6A opponents. Transfers following a long coaching search have significantly impacted the roster size for the program.
