Saints add Kevin Austin Jr. and Treyton Welch to the practice squad

The New Orleans Saints re-signed wide receiver Kevin Austin Jr. and tight end Treyton Welch to their practice squad on Wednesday. Both players previously occupied spots on the team's 53-man active roster before being released Monday to accommodate other acquisitions. Austin, who has been with the organization for two seasons, recorded 13 receptions for 140 yards and one touchdown in eight appearances during the 2025 campaign. Welch, a blocking tight end, played three games for the Saints last year after spending significant time on the practice squad. Following these transactions, Austin joins a practice squad receiving corps that includes Cedric Tillman, Trey Palmer, and Jalen Moreno-Cropper. Welch serves as the only tight end currently assigned to the team's practice squad.
