Saints place rookie safety Lorenzo Styles Jr. on injured reserve

The New Orleans Saints placed rookie safety Lorenzo Styles Jr. on injured reserve Tuesday following a calf injury sustained during the team's second preseason game. By moving the defensive back to the reserve list, the franchise opens a spot on the active roster. The team utilized that vacancy to claim cornerback Decamerion Richardson off waivers. Under league rules, Styles must remain on the injured reserve list for at least the first four games of the regular season before he is eligible to return. The Saints selected Styles in the sixth round of the draft out of Ohio State, where he finished his final campaign with 30 tackles and two pass breakups while also contributing on special teams.
