Saints release running back Zamir White shortly after trade with 49ers

The New Orleans Saints released running back Zamir White less than one week after acquiring him from the San Francisco 49ers. The initial trade sent White to New Orleans in exchange for linebacker Deion Jones. During his brief time with the Saints, White appeared in one preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys and recorded four carries for 23 yards and one touchdown. The 49ers initiated the trade to clear space in a crowded backfield, while the Saints sought depth. As a vested veteran, White is exempt from waivers and may sign with any NFL team. The 49ers currently rely on Kaleon Black and Jordan James as the primary backups for Christian McCaffrey.
