Sam LaPorta progressing towards return for Lions, participates in minicamp
Summary

Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta was a partial participant in mandatory minicamp on June 16. Coach Dan Campbell stated LaPorta is 'trending the right way' and may be cleared for training camp next month. LaPorta's return comes after he played only nine games last season due to a herniated disc and subsequent surgery. He has not engaged in full-speed drills this spring and is expected to play a significant role following a record-setting rookie season. The Lions also signed wide receivers Lucky Jackson and Tarik Black from the UFL champion Louisville Kings after their performance during a workout.
