Sam LaPorta pushes for natural grass fields at Lions' Ford Field

Summary

Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta has requested that the team's home stadium, Ford Field, transition from artificial turf to natural grass. LaPorta's request follows similar sentiments voiced by other NFL players after several stadiums successfully hosted World Cup matches on grass. He highlighted a personal setback from his rookie year due to the artificial surface, which contributed to a knee injury. The Lions organization has committed to exploring better playing surfaces, as stated by head coach Dan Campbell. LaPorta has been medically cleared to participate in Training Camp after recovering from a herniated disc this past season.
