Sammy Omosigho named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week

Sammy Omosigho, a senior linebacker at UCLA, earned the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week award following his standout performance in a 52-38 victory over Purdue on September 23. He recorded a team-high 12 tackles, 11 of which were solo, along with two forced fumbles and two sacks. This marks the third consecutive game in which Omosigho has forced a fumble, making history as the first Bruin to achieve this feat since at least 2000. With a strong start to the season, he leads the FBS in forced fumbles and ranks among the top in several other defensive categories. UCLA's next challenge will be against Maryland on September 30, in their first Big Ten road game of the season.
