San Diego FC falls 3-1 to Portland Timbers in MLS match

San Diego FC's playoff hopes took a hit with a 3-1 loss to the Portland Timbers on August 19 at Providence Park. Portland took the lead in the 29th minute with a goal from Kristoffer Velde. San Diego equalized just before halftime through Gabriel Pirani's first goal for the club. However, Portland regained the lead with Ariel Lassiter's goal in the 51st minute and David Da Costa's long-range finish in the 68th minute secured the Timbers' victory. With this result, San Diego remains outside the playoff spots in the Western Conference, having earned 24 points from 20 matches. They return home to face Colorado Rapids on August 22.
